Cwmbran High School values the thoughts and opinions of everyone within the school community; none more so than the pupils themselves. Our School Council is the tip of the iceberg in terms of Pupil Voice, so let’s start at the beginning…
Each Tutor Group, or Form, elects two Form Reps, who represent the views of their Tutor Group at Year Council Meetings. Here, the Head of Year and Deputy Head of Year listen to the pupil’s views and deal with any issues that arise, or pass them on to the Student Council for further discussion. The Student Council is made up of two Year Reps from each Year Group and it too meets on a half-termly basis to discuss the issues raised by Year Councils. These meetings are chaired by the Head Boy and Girl and I will be in attendance, to offer advice and guidance.
During the course of last year, Sctudent Council views fed into a range of whole school policies, including Uniform and Home work.
Council members, at all levels, have proved eloquent, passionate and well informed and are a pleasure to work with. I look forward to working with them again this year.
