KS3 – Years 7/8/9:

Pupils should be completing work and activities on the topic of athletics. Pupils will look at the Olympic values and the technique and coaching points for different events. There will also be a practical challenge for pupils to take part in attached to each event. They should spend no more than one hour per week on this. Resources for this can be found on their google classroom.

Work can be submitted via the google classroom when all tasks have been complete. Pupils are also encouraged to take pictures or videos of themselves completing the challenges which can form part of their work and be added to the end of the workbook.

Pupils are also encouraged to take part in the daily PE workout with Joe Wicks https://youtube.com/thebodycoach1

In addition to this we will set work outs/ practices and challenges on the PE twitter page each day @CwmbranHigh_PE

Introduction to athletics, looking at different events and the Olympic values.

Long Jump – Key coaching points, warm-up, watch and learn, have a go challenge.

Week beginning 4/5/20

Hurdles – components of fitness, technique, warm-up, speed bounce challenge.

Week beginning 11/5/20

High Jump – Watch and learn, comparing techniques, components of fitness, warm-up, high knees challenge.

Week beginning 18/5/20

Shot Put – Coaching points, technique, warm-up, watch and learn, shot put challenge.

 

 

KS4 -Years10/11 (Core PE):

A selection of workout ideas and links will be uploaded and can be accessed through google classroom. Pupils can choose to use them as they wish as part of their regular exercise routine.

Year 10 GCSE PE:

Pupils should be working on their coursework – Personal Exercise Plan. Which consists of writing an introduction, analysing their strengths and weaknesses, applying their knowledge of SMART targets, training methods and principles of training to create an 8 week training plan which they will follow, monitor and evaluate. Pupils should spend 2 hours a week on this. Resources can be found on google classroom and also Show my Homework.

Continue to work on the first sections of coursework- intro, personal profile and components of fitness section, and results table. Most would have done this with Mrs Manning in class so should be easy to complete. Next section of coursework- Strengths and areas for improvement section- Analyse each. For example: strength is an area of improvement because…… give reason why, why will improving it benefit you/your sport and what you could do to improve it? Do the same for your strengths, why is it a strength? What do you do to ensure it is a strength?

Amendments to coursework following feedback and begin the next section of coursework-

8 week training programme. Set out your sessions and the plans you will do in each session.

Send via email/google classroom at the end of the fortnight.

 

HALF TERM

-ONGOING! Begin training and working through your programme, monitoring your programme. You will need to monitor your training ready for your evaluation in 8 weeks time so type up your diary/monitoring of your session (see examples). In 8 weeks you will need to re test a lot of test can be done at home (use youtube for MSFT). Then you can write up your evaluation (which brings us to the last two weeks before the summer hols to write it up and complete it all before the summer!!).

 

Week beginning 01/06/20

Revision, complete all incomplete work in workbooks/ booklets

Mock paper will be on SMH to complete in test conditions to get a fair idea of what areas you need to work on. This test we had planned for prior to school closure so pupils should have been working on revising all topics.

Year 10 BTEC First Sport:

Pupils should continue to work on the Sports Leadership unit. This includes writing their newsletter, creating their session plan and organising the feedback sheets they will use with pupils when delivering their session when we return to school.
